4 ~ Together We Fly
“How did I get dragged into
this again?” Misty asked as the airship gained altitude. From her spot on the
deck, she could see the buildings and people grow smaller.
“You gave in to your
emotions?” DJ suggested.
Misty put a hand on her hip
and pointed to him. “And you’re here because…”
“Curiosity.”
Anna looked over Jester’s
shoulder as he managed the controls. “So what ARE you doing here?” She narrowed
her eyes in suspicion.
Jester glanced at Anna while
turning a few knobs. “Saving the world, of course.”
“By saving Hanna?”
“Naturally.”
“I thought that was Brady’s
job.” Anna folded her arms and smirked.
Jester stopped pressing
buttons and turned to her. “Is Brady awesome enough to get killed off and
brought back from the dead in every spinoff?”
Anna thought about it for a
moment and nodded. “Well played. So how did Shard get to be Thorae’s Mother
Gothel?”
Jester shrugged and returned to the controls. “Taking Hanna out of the picture seems to have unleashed her real power, as far as her element is concerned.”
Jester shrugged and returned to the controls. “Taking Hanna out of the picture seems to have unleashed her real power, as far as her element is concerned.”
“Out of the picture? I
thought you said we could save her.”
Jester flipped a few more
switches before leaning back in his chair. “We can. She’s still here, just not…
here.”
“Did she finally separate?”
“I don’t believe so. I think
she just found a way to make sure the evil side was in charge for a while.”
“So how do we save her?”
“By saving Lui, duh.”
Jester stood up and walked
out to the deck with Anna not far behind. The airship was just alongside a wall
of one of the castle’s many towers. Jester looked up at the one of the tower
windows. “Whatever we find up there, it will be no use trying to stop her
without Lui. He’s the missing puzzle piece in this mess.”
Anna stared at the huge
structure. “Shard is planning to execute him tomorrow. How are we going to find
him in this big castle?”
“Like this.” Jester raised a
remote with a big red button and pressed it.
A rocket flew from the
airship and into the base of the tower, creating a large hole. Jester and Anna dropped
into the gap. Just as they found themselves in a dark dungeon, they also found
a hoard of soldiers upon them.
Anna and Jester seemed to
know what they were doing when it came to taking out a bunch of nondescript
soldiers. In the mean time, Misty and DJ watched the battle from the deck.
“You ever get the feeling you’ve
been forgotten?” Misty asked.
DJ shoved his hands in his
pockets and tilted his head. “Only during scene changes.”
“You think we should help
them?”
“They seem to be doing
alright.”
Realizing she and Jester were
the only ones fighting, Anna looked back at the airship. “Why aren’t you guys
helping?!” she asked as she fended off another soldier. A guard attacking with
a halberd garnered Anna’s full attention. DJ and Misty were again forgotten.
“Still don’t think we should
help them?”
“Nope.”
“Me either,” Misty tapped her
chin. “Maybe we should look for this Lui person. The closer we are to finding
him, the farther we are from the crazies.”
DJ shrugged. “I can’t argue
with that logic. Where do we start?”
Snapping her fingers and digging
into her bag, Misty pulled out a scroll and opened it.
“A map of the castle?!” DJ
asked in surprise. “But how?”
“I don’t know. Some odd person
in a blue box handed this to me. They disappeared right before Joker tried to
nab me.” Looking at the map, little golden footprints lit up with names above
them. A number of footprints were heading toward a large cluster of continually
moving footprints. Misty examined the names above the footprints that weren’t
moving much and read them out loud.
“Ace, Oxford, Eden, Christina,
Lui! Here it is!”
DJ peered over Misty’s
shoulder. “Cell 333. Let’s go!”
